Super Eagles defeated Tanzania’s Taifa Stars 2-1 at the Complexe Sportif de Fes on Tuesday in their opening Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Group C match.
Nigeria took the lead early in the game, but Tanzania made multiple threats. The Super Eagles led 1-0 at the interval as defender Semi Ajayi opened the deadlock in the 36th minute by rising highest to head Alex Iwobi’s lofted ball into the back of the net.
In the second half, Tanzania reacted swiftly. Nigeria was under siege when midfielder Charles M’Mombwa took advantage of a loose ball two minutes after the restart to tie the game at 1-1. However, Ademola Lookman gave Nigeria the lead again in the 55th minute 2-1.
Congratulations Super Eagles! We are proud of you all.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
