African Curse Stopping Pep Guardiola Has Been Lifted – Dimitri Seluk

Dimitri Seluk, Yaya Toure’s agent, claims that a spell placed on Pep Guardiola by ‘African shamans’ to prevent the manager from winning the Champions League has been broken.

Guardiola was given a ‘African curse’ by Dimitri Seluk after his deteriorating relationship with Toure during the Ivorian’s final season at the club, which resulted in his making only one Premier League start during Manchester City’s 2017/18 season.

Toure told France Football at the time that Guardiola did “everything to spoil [his] last season” and questioned Guardiola’s views to recruiting African players.

“I promise I will send him a cake the day he picks a team with five Africans in it,” the player stated, an apparent allusion to Toure’s 2014 ‘birthday cake snub,’ which saw the City legend’s birthday supposedly go unnoticed by his club.

Following the statements, Seluk predicted that a ‘African curse’ would result from Toure’s discontent with his coach, stifling any future hope of European glory.

According to the Mirror, Seluk apologized and stated that he and Toure both wish ‘nothing but success for City’.

“I want to apologise for this matter,” the Ukrainian agent said. “I think it is time for this bitterness to stop – and I know that Yaya feels the same because he wishes nothing but success for City.

“I can say that the spell has now been lifted by the shamans – and that I think City will win the Champions League under Pep.

“They have a good chance of winning it this year. But whatever happens they will definitely win it in the next three years.”

City has never won the Champions League, and it’s no secret that the trophy is coveted by both Guardiola and his team.

In 2021, the Cityzens advanced to the final but were defeated 1-0 by Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, with to a strike from Kai Havertz.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
