Aisha Buhari Shares Insights On The Cause Of President Buhari’s Passing

Former First Lady Aisha Buhari clarified the facts surrounding the death of her late husband in a recently published biography while vehemently denying persistent rumors of poisoning or assassination.

She said that the family only trusted the official medical explanation in her book, “From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari.”

The book claims that Aisha Buhari denied accusations of poisoning, sabotage of air conditioning, or any other secret scheme, characterizing such stories as scare tactics that diverted attention from real health problems.

She affirmed that the former president’s medical care providers “clearly informed the family that pneumonia caused his de@th.”

Rumors of poisoning also accompanied Buhari’s illness in 2017, according to Aisha Buhari, who instead blamed age, fatigue, a demanding workload, and the disruption of a strict diet and relaxation schedule.

She claims that after more stringent schedules and dietary assistance were reinstated, Buhari’s health considerably improved.

Beyond health concerns, the former First Lady discussed enduring problems during Buhari’s administration, denouncing gatekeeping procedures that she claimed limited access to the President and eventually undermined government accountability.

She emphasized that her own involvement was restricted to campaigning and supervision, insisting that she “neither signed official documents nor awarded contracts.”

You will recall that on Sunday, July 13, 2025, former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away at the age of 82 in a London clinic.

His de@th was officially announced by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, and later confirmed by the presidency. He was subsequently buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
