Akpabio Visits Ooni Of Ife To Ask For His Blessing On Running For Senate President

Godswill Akpabio Former Niger Minister for Delta Affairs and senator representing Akwa-ibom in the northwest paid a courtesy call on Adeyeye Ogunushi, Ooni of Ife on Saturday.

Akpabio is one of the leading lawmakers looking to become the next president of the Senate when the 10th National Assembly is launched in June.

On Saturday, Ebonyi Governor David Umahi said he withdrew his candidacy for Senate Speaker in favor of Akpabio.

Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje also said Akpabio would be the next president of the Senate.

Kano North and Umahi Senator Ballau Jibrin accompanied the Senate presidential candidate during his visit.
