Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, a popular Anambra native doctor, has been arrested while authorities probe the legitimacy of his purported money ritual activities for clients.
In a video circulating online, the native doctor angrily denied performing “Okeite” ceremonies, citing compliance with a newly enacted law in Anambra State prohibiting such acts.
During the interrogation, a government official can be heard insisting that Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki accompany them to his shrine to demonstrate the efficacy of the rites he claims to practice.
The incident has aroused extensive debate over the government’s crackdown on certain traditional customs and its efforts to implement the law. He was arrested after charges that he prepares juju for kidnappers who pose as yahoo guys to terrorize the state.
