Amber Heard Slams Johnny Depp’s TikTok Post About ‘Moving Forward’

Amber Heard has criticized Johnny Depp after joining TikTok for claiming he was “moving on” with fans following a defamation lawsuit.

Depp thanked his “unbreakable” supporters in his first TikTok post on Tuesday after his legal victory against Heard, with his account amassing more than 7 million followers as of Wednesday morning.

His first post highlighted moments from his live concert with musician Jeff Beck and fans showing their support with banners.

But in a statement to People on Tuesday, a spokesperson for Heard said: “As Johnny Depp says he is ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward.

“The verdict’s message to the victims of domestic violence is … be afraid to stand up and speak out.”

Along with his video about his victory, Depp had posted the caption: “To my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We have been everywhere together, we have seen everything together.

“We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together because you cared. And now we will all move forward together.”

Depp won his multimillion-dollar US lawsuit against ex-wife Heard after a jury found her 2018 article in the Washington Post defamatory and that Depp lost out on movies because of how it was penned.

The much-publicized six-week trial ended with Johnny Depp being awarded $10 million (£8 million) in punitive damages and another $5 million (£4 million) in compensatory damages.

However, the jury found in favor of Heard, who said Depp’s lawyer had defamed him when he called his misconduct allegations a hoax.

In a statement after the verdict, Heard said: “The despair I feel today is beyond words. I am saddened that the mountain of evidence still faces the limitless power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”

Separately, Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez was promoted to a partner in his law firm following his performance in the actor’s multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit.

The firm, Brown Rudnick, promoted Ms. Vasquez over her “significant role” in the case.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp developed a bond after the pair met on the sets of the 2009 film Rum Diary, and began dating around 2012. The pair tied the knot in 2015 in a private ceremony. The next year, Heard filed for divorce, whilst accusing Depp of alleged physical abuse.
