Angry Residents Chase Its Visiting Constituency Lawmaker Out Of Community (See Video)

Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, was driven out of his constituency by residents this week for supposed under-performance.

The lawmaker, commonly known as ‘West’, who is the Assembly’s Majority Leader, just escaped being attacked by residents who were protesting the imposition.

The incident is reported to have occurred in the Iloro community when the lawmaker, who represents Owo Constituency 1, went to the region to solicit supporters for the 2023 election.

It was gathered that when the residents invaded the meeting, some local All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders were present.

The residents could be seen cursing the congressman and his entourage as they chased them out of the area in a viral video.

In the footage, an armed police officer, Ogunmolasuyi’s orderly, and others were seen running.

When contacted, the lawmaker said that he was assaulted by thugs sent by his opponents in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and that he had done a good job giving scholarships, palliatives, and other developmental initiatives.

Ogunmolasuyi said he was in Iloro for a meeting when goons from a PDP candidate arrived.

He said, “Nobody can chase me away. It can never happen. We held a meeting at Iloro Ward and after I left I was told there was an attack by the PDP people.

“I was not there for general campaign, I was there to meet with my party people. It was after I left. Those people in the video are thugs. I had left and was told there was a video circulating.

“Those guys are thugs. Those guys are not the people that will reject anybody. They were all PDP people.”

However, Kennedy Peretei, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, rejected the accusation, claiming that it was the APC supporters that chased Ogunmolasuyi out of the area.
