Another Deadly Disease Breaks Out In China

Within its borders, China has identified a brand-new, potentially lethal virus that, according to experts, might start a new pandemic.

According to Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control, the Langya Henipavirus, also known as “Langya,” has already infected 35 people.

Authorities claimed the patients had no prior close contact or exposure history, which raises the possibility that human infections are sporadic.

To detect and stop the spread of the virus, Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are currently developing a nucleic acid testing technology.

The virus belongs to the same family as the Nipah and Hendra viruses.

Prior to this epidemic, no human beings had ever been affected by this virus, therefore, leaving a number of unanswered questions.

According to WHO’s data, henipavirus has a 40–75% fatality rate.

A few of the symptoms are fever, headache, cough, and tiredness.

The New England Journal of Medicine reported that the affected patients had a history of animal contact.

According to Taipei Times, the Langya henipavirus can spread from animals to people and has been discovered in the Chinese provinces of Shandong and Henan.
