April 17 Fixed For Arraignment Of Umar Ganduje, Wife And Son

A Kano High Court has set April 17, 2024, as the date for the arraignment of the state’s immediate former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife, and six others.

According to the Daily Trust, the accused will face eight-count allegations of dollar bribery, diversion, and theft of funds, including alleged $413,000 and N1.38 billion bribes, among others.

The writ of summons also names Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises as respondents in the complaint.

In the criminal suit filed against the eight respondents, the Kano State Government stated that 15 witnesses had been assembled to appear in court.

The case is scheduled for April 17, 2024, before Justice Usman Na’aba of State High Court number four. The State Attorney General, Haruna Isah Dederi, confirmed the situation, saying the complaint had been filed and that all parties concerned would be served promptly.

Haruna Isah Dederi, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the State confirmed that Ganduje, his wife, and six others will be arraigned on the specified date.

“It is very true. We have filed the case and it’s going to be held on the 17th of April, 2024. What I cannot confirm is whether he is served or not but he will definitely be served. What he (Ganduje) doesn’t understand is that you cannot run away from the evil day, it will definitely come to you and this will even serve as a deterrence to all of us that are also in government now. He was saying that we can’t prosecute him forgetting that the offence also falls under the category of state offences. It’s not totally a Federal affair and we have even appealed to Justice Liman ruling on that.” Dederi said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
