Argentina Is Thinking About Printing A Note With Lionel Messi’s Face On It

Following Argentina’s first World Cup victory since 1986 in Mexico, Lionel Messi has been the subject of discussions to have his image placed on a new 1,000 peso currency, according to the Daily Mail.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina has reportedly been brainstorming ideas to commemorate the national team’s historic victory in Qatar ever since the dramatic 4-2 shootout victory over France in the championship game, according to a local daily called El Financiero.

Fans are excited to see the 1,000 peso note go into circulation, and mock-ups of the note have now gone viral.

Messi’s beaming visage can be seen on one side of the note, and the phrase “La Scaloneta” is suggested for the reverse.

Ever since Jorge Sampaoli was replaced by Lionel Scaloni in 2018, the phrase has come to be synonymous with this group.

Argentina won the 2021 Copa America, the inaugural Finalissima at Wembley Stadium, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup while Scaloni was in charge.

It wouldn’t be the bank’s first attempt to exchange currency with the national team if officials continue with their intention to distribute the note, which they anticipate will become extremely collectible for Argentine civilians.

In the past, they produced commemorative coins for Argentina’s first World Cup victory in 1978.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Eva Perón, the former First Lady of Argentina, passing away, commemorative coins were also created.
