Assemblies Of God Dismisses Pastor Over Defiling Of 13-Year-Old

Rev. Chukwuemeka Orji, 60, of the Assemblies of God Church, has been ejected for allegedly def!ling a 13-year-old female domestic worker in Aba, Abia State.

The suspect (PICTURED) was arraigned at a Magistrate Court sitting in the state’s Aba South Local Government Area on Tuesday and remanded with a bail condition to the Abia State Correctional Centre until the outcome of his proceedings, according to LIB.

The Abia State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Chinaka Maureen, confirmed Orji’s detention and said an investigation into the case was ongoing.

Rev. Dr Don Njoku, the Aba District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, stated that Orji had been sanctioned and dismissed from the ministry.

“Assemblies of God Church is a holiness organisation; we don’t support promiscuity of any kind. What our pastor did is what we preach against. Consequently, even if the announcement is not made official yet, he knows he has been sanctioned,” Rev. Njoku said.

“He knows that in our constitution, anybody that does such a thing is expelled from the church and we will be going to his church on Sunday to tell the members to put an official approach to it and to tell them to cheer up and continue in the race because when a soldier is hit by a bullet, it does not make other soldiers to shrink, they continue but all they will need to do is to guard themselves more, knowing that in battle, people fall and people die.

“So, obviously Rev. Chukwuemeka Orji is suspended and disfellowshipped from the ministry. Even if the government doesn’t do anything to him, this is what we do when our member does a thing such as that because what he did is what we prohibit, what the Bible prohibits and what we speak and stand against.”

Orji, who allegedly took the victim from her family members with the pretext of sponsoring her education, was said to have had carnal knowledge of the girl since she was 12 years old.

In an attempt to quiet the girl, the cleric allegedly threatened to stop funding her studies and return her to her family members if she told anybody about the unlawful conduct.

The youngster described her suffering at the hands of the pastor, saying that when she began leaving with Orji, he made sexual approaches to her that she refused.

She did, however, mention that things changed when the pastor reportedly forcefully had carnal knowledge of her sometime in 2022, adding that it became a regular act following that.

Orji allegedly ran out of luck on Thursday, June 15, 2023, when he attempted to get around the minor but discovered she was in her menstruation. He was accused of forcing her to have oral sex with him.

“Unsatisfied by her performance, he sent her to cut grass at a farm within the church premises as a punishment for being on her period before she was allowed to go to school.

“The victim who could no longer bear the action of the pastor reported him to her class teacher when she got to school. The teacher notified the proprietor of the school and the proprietor alerted the Executive Director of Vivacious Development Initiative, Lady Nwosu, who informed a colleague, Chuka Okoye, after which the police were contacted and the pastor was arrested.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
