ASUU Strike: FG To Be Taken To Court

According to SERAP, the Buhari administration is being sued for failing to stop the ongoing ASUU strike.

The reluctance of the Federal Government to halt the strike, according to the body, was a breach of the legal obligation to provide Nigerians with access to higher education.

On its official Twitter page, SERAP said, “BREAKING: We’re suing the Buhari administration over its failure to end the strike action by ASUU, which is a violation of the legal obligation to provide access to higher education without discrimination

“We’re suing the Buhari administration because of its failure to end the strike action by ASUU and allow Nigerian children get back to school violates the right of poor children to higher education, equality and non-discrimination, human dignity, and penalises poor parents.”

ASUU began a one-month warning strike on February 14th and prolonged it for another two months due to the government’s alleged refusal to honour its commitments.
