Australian Man And Dog Survived On Rainwater And Raw Fish After Being Lost At Sea For 60 Days

Due to poor weather, an Australian man and his dog were forced to spend two months in the Pacific Ocean after his boat sustained damage.

Tim Shaddock, 51, and his dog Bella were marooned on the boat for more than 60 days and were forced to survive on raw fish and rainwater.

Shaddock sought shade under the boat’s canopy to escape the sun while traveling 6,500 kilometers from La Paz, Mexico, to French Polynesia.

On July 12, a surveillance helicopter scanning the area for a Mexican fishing vessel saw the pair.

Shaddock had “normal vital signs,” the on-board trawler doctor reported to the media.

“I have been through a very difficult ordeal at sea,” Shaddock said to Australian broadcaster 9News.

“I’m just needing rest and good food because I have been alone at sea a long time. Otherwise, I’m in very good health.”

“The tuna boat ‘MARA DELIA’ of the marindustrias company has just rescued a castaway after three months adrift. There is no doubt God is great,” the post said as per The Guardian.

Following his longer-than-expected sea journey, Shaddock appeared to have grown a bushy beard, and the trawler uploaded a photo of him online. This photo led some people on social media to compare Shaddock to actor Tom Hanks from the movie “Castaway” because of the similarity in appearance.

Shaddock, who could only eat small meals, was going to Mexico to undergo additional medical examinations.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
