Ayo Adesanya Reflects On Playing Villainous Roles

Renowned Nigerian actress Ayo Adesanya recently talked about her experiences playing evil characters in TV shows and movies, explaining how uncomfortable she felt in these parts.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Adesanya discussed her reaction to watching herself perform in dark and wicked roles. “Playing different characters exposes me to various lifestyles,” she said. “Sometimes, when I see myself acting so cruelly, I’m astonished by how convincingly I portray these roles. It makes me question whether there’s a part of me that’s truly that wicked. Even though I’m embodying someone else’s character, it still bothers me to see such heartlessness.”

Adesanya also provided details about her most recent endeavor, the *Madam Movable* YouTube series. She said the show gave her the chance to push herself and show off her comic side.

“I wanted to do something different and push my limits,” she explained. “While many delivery roles are male-dominated, I hadn’t seen a female delivery character before. I also wanted to explore comedy in a different, more subtle way. Learning to ride a bike for this role was a challenge—I trained for a week before I could ride properly. It gave me a newfound appreciation for bike riders.”

Adesanya continues to negotiate the challenging worlds of acting and relationships, and her insights and counsel offer insight into her developing professional and personal philosophy.

A villainous role is an evil or wicked character that enacts evil actions, often with a justification in line with their own principles.
