Bandits terrorised the Goran Namaye hamlet in Zamfara State’s Maradun local government area, killing three people and kidnapping 130 residents.

According to leadership, a local in the region named Salisu Lawali stated that the bandits invaded the town about 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, moving from home to house.

Lawali went on to say that the kidnapped victims were mostly women and some men, and he confirmed that three people died during the invasion.

“As I speak to you, many of our people were missing and we lost three of our men to this tragic incident,” he said.

The resident further stated that the bandits surrounded the village on motorcycles carrying heavy weaponry before attacking the civilians.

“They came in a large number and surrounded the whole town while some began house-to-house operations and chased our people mainly women into the bush” he added.

Lawali called on federal and state governments to come to the rescue of the abducted persons saying, “I wish to call on federal and Zamfara State government to deploy security personnel to the area to trace the hideout of these terrorists and rescue our people as we don’t have anything to pay for ransom.”

At the time of reporting this article, no comment from the state’s security agency had been issued regarding the attack.
