Bandits Kill Zamfara Lecturer After Collecting N2m Ransom

Nasiru Mohammed Anka, a lecturer at Zamfara State College of Education, Maru (COE), was assassinated by bandits after paying a N2 million ransom.

According to reports, the lecturer and other citizens were kidnapped three weeks ago in Maru town, Maru Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources, the lecturer was executed in her presence, according to a woman who fled from the bandits’ camp after being held captive for weeks.

The woman claimed she mustered bravery and fled the bandits’ hideout when they were all intoxicated and passed out.

She went on to say that the bandit tried to remove some of the lecturer’s sensitive body parts two days after his death, but the corpse had already deteriorated, so they decided to leave it.

“After several blows on his head with guns and other punishment, he couldn’t survive it so he died,” the woman told TVC News.

“The bandits keep telling him that his people have money and if they love him they should bring the money or they kill him, and that was how they killed him after collecting the two million Naira that they claimed was not enough or up to their target,” she added.

His funeral prayer (Salatul Gha’ib) was held at Gida Dari, Gusau, on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 12:30 pm.

Meanwhile, students and teachers at the college have flocked to Facebook to express their condolences.

One Bello Muhammad Dogon Kade wrote: “On a sad note, I announce the demise of our colleague Malam Nasiru Muhammad Anka (lecturer at COE Maru) who was abducted by bandits and was killed by them after payment of two million naira as ransom. The bitter part of it is we came to know about the death today from a fortunately rescued woman who said he died for more than ten days back. Allahu Akbar may Allah accept his shahada. His Salatul Gha’ib (funeral prayer) is arranged to be held at Gida Dari by 12:30 pm tomorrow 18/12/23. Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi raji’un, Hasbunallah wa ni’imal wakil, La’ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntum minazzalimin.”
