Bandits Murder Traditional Ruler And Son In Taraba

Udeng Ibrahim Yamusa and his son Musa Ibrahim have been assassinated by gunmen who are believed to be bandits in the Yukuben chiefdom in Taraba State’s Takum Local Government Area.

According to reports, on Thursday, July 28, while the monarch and his son were travelling home from Takum, the seat of Takum LGA, the bandits abducted them in Kpambo along the Takum Kashimbila route.

The villagers organized a search for the father and son but were unsuccessful.

Later, early on Saturday morning, July 30, their remains were discovered in a bush beside the road.

His first son, Pastor John Ibrahim, confirmed the tragedy to Channels Television and revealed that the victims were brutally murdered while they were returning to the chiefdom.

Pastor John said, “My father and brother were taken unaware by these suspected militias. They decided to travel on a motorcycle leaving his official car because of our dilapidated road network.”

The traditional leader, who, according to him, was supposed to go to Takum for a peace meeting, made the decision to go home instead after the meeting was postponed.

John was baffled as to why the bandits who have been terrorizing the local populace in the Takum, Ussa, and Yangtu Special Development Areas chose to kill both his father and brother at the same time.

The traditional ruler and his son’s remains were reportedly found in a bush in a different town, distant from the kidnapping location, according to DSP Kwache Gambo, acting spokesperson for the State Police Command, who confirmed the murder to Channels on Saturday night.

According to Gambo, the state commissioner of police ordered an investigation into the incident to determine those who are responsible for the murder.

The spokesperson also urged locals to report any suspicious activity or potential risks to life immediately so that the police can take immediate action.

He demanded that troops be sent to Taraba State’s southern region while asking security personnel to exhaust all possible avenues in their pursuit of the criminals.
