BBNaija’s Uriel Oputa Speaks Out Against Online Criticism of Women’s Motherhood Decisions

Uriel Oputa, a BBNaija star, has criticized people who criticize women for their choice of parenthood.

The reality star claimed in a social media post that she detests the current trend of discussing women’s reproductive lives and health on these platforms.

Uriel claims that people tend to forget that these are actual people with feelings, private suffering, and silent battles.

“So what if a woman brings a child into the world?” she asked. “Instead of celebrating life, people start comparing, saying things like ‘when I was breastfeeding, I didn’t do this’ or ‘why didn’t she do that?’ Everyone’s story is different. Even siblings from the same parents aren’t the same.”

She went on to question why people feel entitled to analyze women’s lives, mentioning names like Toke Makinwa, Tiwa Savage, Hilda Baci, and others who often face intense public scrutiny.

“Are you them?” she asked pointedly. “Everyone’s journey is unique. Nigerians can really be shameless sometimes.”

In her caption she wrote;

hate seeing other women being pulled down,” she wrote. “It’s disgusting. Ask yourself why you’re not progressing — it’s your heart. I’ll continue to defend Toke or whoever I wish.”

In her statement, Uriel Oputa emphasizes the importance of respecting women’s choices and condemns the harmful impact of online shaming. She advocates for a more supportive and understanding community that celebrates women’s individuality and their right to make personal decisions without fear of judgment.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
