Dr. Becky Enenche, the wife of Dunamis International Gospel Center Senior Pastor Paul Enenche, has cautioned married men against letting their relationships at work interfere with their marriages and advised them to set clear boundaries in their interactions with female secretaries.
In an online post, she said that men should be aware of how close they get to female employees, especially if their interactions with them start to take precedence over their relationships with their spouses.
While acknowledging that women can be effective secretaries, she emphasized that married men must manage these relationships with caution.
She said:
“I know women can make very efficient secretaries, but wisdom is profitable to direct”.
“By the time somebody’s text messages are entering your phone more frequently than your wife’s, query, query, query.
“Make efforts to protect yourself. Let it be strategic and well calculated. I know that the Lord will help us in the name of Jesus Christ.”
“Please, don’t let anybody take the place of your wife.”
“That person who comes to the office, as God’s servant said, to cook tea for you. You boil water and infuse it with tea bags, or you boil water to make coffee.
“But when we talk about cooking tea, you’re spending more time than necessary with that person.
“If your secretary is a woman, just ensure you have boundaries and don’t let her cook your tea.”
Dr. Becky’s advice is a timely reminder that married men should maintain clear, respectful boundaries with their secretaries and other colleagues. While every workplace relationship is different, it’s wise to recognise when professional interactions begin to cross personal lines and address them appropriately. May God grant all married men wisdom and help them protect their marriages.
