Besiktas Fires Ole Solskjær Following Europa League Qualifiers Loss

Following a string of poor performances that left the Turkish Süper Lig team underperforming, Besiktas announced that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been fired as head coach with immediate effect.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, revealed the information on his X account on Thursday.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been sacked by Besiktas with immediate effect,” he said.

“Following the meeting, our chairman, Serdal Adalı, thanked Solskjaer for his services to date.”

Following a series of subpar performances that put more pressure on Solskjær and forced the board to take action, the decision was made in response to Thursday’s Conference League play-off loss to Swiss team Lausanne.

The 52-year-old led the Istanbul team to fourth place last season after taking over as manager in January.

The club fired the Norwegian after the Thursday loss, which meant they would not be participating in European football this season.

Announcing Solskjær’s termination, Besiktas said, “Our contract with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been terminated following a decision made at a board meeting.
