Billionaire Folorunso Alakija Reportedly Loses Her Eyesight

According to reports, Folorunso Alakija, a Nigerian wealthy entrepreneur, has lost her sight.

The 73-year-old founder and executive vice chairman of Famfa Oil started having health issues after a near-air accident, according to sources who spoke to SaharaReporters.

When the event occurred, her blood pressure spiked, apparently impairing her vision. She was traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, Chairman of Famfa Oil.

Alakija apparently acquired a new jet after the upsetting incident so she wouldn’t have to fly with her spouse. She eventually lost her sight, though, as her vision deteriorated more.

“She had a near air mishap with her husband on board, and her blood pressure reportedly shot up, affecting her eyes,” a source revealed.

“She has been having eyesight issues, but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her. Now she can’t see.”

Alakija, a philanthropist and businesswoman, established a small fellowship in her house in 2004 that eventually expanded into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.

At the age of 69, she received her apostleship. According to Forbes, Alakija’s net worth was estimated at $1 billion as of 2020. In 2015, she was ranked 87th on Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women and was one of only two African women on Forbes’ list of the richest people in Africa At the age of 69, she received her apostleship.
