Black Easter in Benue: At Least 17 Killed as Fulani Terrorists Storm Mbalom Community

A deadly attack on Easter Sunday has left the Mbalom community in Gwer East, Benue State, in shambles. Armed Fulani terrorists launched a brutal assault on the community, killing at least 17 people and leaving many others missing.

Eyewitnesses report that numerous houses were set ablaze during the attack, displacing families and causing widespread destruction. The assault, which occurred on April 5, 2026, has sent shockwaves through the community.

The attack is part of a surge in violence in Benue State, with hundreds of people killed in recent months. The state government has launched a manhunt, but residents fear reprisals as the rainy season sets in.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has described the state as being under siege by terrorists, appealing for urgent action to stop the violence. The Nigerian government has deployed additional troops to the region to restore peace.

The United Nations has condemned the attack, calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The international community is urging the Nigerian government to take immediate action to protect vulnerable communities.

The attack has sparked outrage and concern among locals, who are demanding justice for the victims. Many are questioning the government’s ability to protect them from these brutal attacks.

The Mbalom community is now grappling with the aftermath of the attack, with many families struggling to come to terms with their loss. The community is calling for support and assistance to help those affected by the violence.
