Bold Steps, Better Future: Abia APC Backs Tinubu’s Reforms, Calls on Abians to Stay the Course

Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has joined the Democracy Day chorus, praising President Bola Tinubu for what it called “bold, decisive moves” to reset Nigeria’s governance and economy. In a Saturday statement, the party said June 12 remains a reminder of the people’s power and the sacrifices that birthed the Fourth Republic.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, said the Tinubu administration is tackling problems previous governments avoided. From subsidy removal to power sector reforms, Abia APC argued that the President is choosing long-term stability over short-term comfort. For a state like Abia with its manufacturing base and SMEs, they say stable policies are what investors need to commit capital.

Yes, there is pain now, the party admitted. But Abia APC framed the hardship as temporary surgery for a chronic illness. They argued that stabilizing public finances, unifying the exchange rate, and opening the electricity market will eventually translate to jobs, cheaper production costs, and better infrastructure. “You can’t build a house by patching the roof every rainy season,” the statement implied.

The statement also credited Tinubu’s leadership style with restoring confidence. According to Abia APC, his willingness to make tough calls has sent a signal that Nigeria is serious about reform. The party believes that signal matters for foreign investors, local manufacturers in Aba, and young people looking for opportunities beyond government jobs.

Beyond praise, the party made a direct appeal to citizens: support the process. Abia APC told residents that democracy only works when people participate, ask questions, and hold leaders accountable while backing policies meant for the collective good. They urged Abians to stay united across ethnic and religious lines as reforms take root.

The APC in Abia tied the message to its own goals. The party said it remains focused on accountability, transparency, and delivering dividends of democracy to every community in the state. From fixing roads to supporting trade in Ariaria Market, Abia APC said its mission is to align with the federal reform agenda while solving local problems.

As Democracy Day messages fade, the real test begins in markets, factories, and homes. Abia APC’s position is clear: endure the short-term sacrifice, back the reforms, and demand results. For many Abians, the next chapter will be judged not by speeches, but by lighter bills, safer roads, and jobs that pay.
