Breaking News: Aisha Buhari Pardons Her Critic, Aminu Adamu

The complaint brought against Aminu Adamu Mohammed, a final-year student at Jigawa State Federal University, Dutse, by Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari, has reportedly been dropped.

Fidelis Ogbobe, the prosecution’s attorney, claimed on Friday that the First Lady, as the mother of the country, decided to drop the case after the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.

Ogbode made the application for the withdrawal of the case on the basis of Section 108 subsection 2(a) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

In a ruling, Justice Halilu Yusuf of the FCT High Court praised the First Lady for her “bold steps” in forgiving the accused.

Justice Halilu urged parents to watch their children in order to prevent a repeat of the occurrence as he issued Aminu’s release warrant.

Aminu was accused of defaming the first lady of Nigeria and was reportedly tortured and subjected to other cruel punishments.

The student was placed on remand at the Niger State Correctional Center in Suleja for tweeting that the First Lady had become fat off the money of the poor.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
