Brunei Ranked As The Safest Country For Female Muslim Travellers

According to the recently issued Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2023, Brunei is the fifth most hospitable country for Muslim women.

The top two travel destinations for Muslim women are Malaysia and Indonesia, according to the regional daily Borneo Bulletin published on Monday.

Despite receiving low marks for destination marketing, connectivity, and enabling environment, Brunei received high marks for religious restrictions, prayer rooms, and airport services.

The annual research examines information from close to 140 nations to determine which travel locations best satisfy the demands of the expanding halaal travel community. Access, communication, environment, and services are the four main characteristics used by the index to evaluate locations.

Muslim immigrants worldwide topped 110 million in 2022, and 140 million are anticipated this year, according to GMTI.

By 2028, there will be 230 million Muslim travelers, who will spend an estimated $225 billion.

Currently, Asia is the region with the highest number of arrivals, with more than 31% of visitors identifying as Muslims.

According to Google data, Hanoi, Bangkok, and Taipei were among the most popular destinations for lone travelers.

The research was done by the company Explore Travel. According to the company, “Our study also highlights the ever-growing popularity of solo travel as a meaningful way to experience the world: it’s a powerful reminder that travel is not just about the destination, but the journey itself, and the personal growth that comes with stepping outside of our comfort zones.”
