Buhari Felicitates Ex-Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu At 60

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday, felicitated former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, as he turned 60 today, Thursday, May 12, 2022.

Buhari’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled, ‘President Buhari greets Senator Ike Ekweremadu at 60’.

The statement reads in part, “The President rejoices with the lawmaker, his family, friends and associates on the landmark celebration, saluting his contributions to the legislature, where he has served since 2003.

“The lawyer and politician, President Buhari says, has made salutary impact on constitutional and electoral reforms in the country, as well as serving as Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, where he successfully spearheaded the enhancement of the powers of the regional Parliament.

“In a polity where there is a high attrition rate of elected officials, the President lauds Ekweremadu’s staying power, which must be an expression of the confidence his people have in him.”

Buhari also commended the public service trajectory of Ekweremadu, which, he said, has seen him serve as Chief of Staff to an Enugu State Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Senator, Deputy Senate President, and Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament.

He wished the lawmaker good health, a sound mind, and further service to God and humanity.

Wishing you an everlasting happiness sir…. Happy Birthday!!!

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
