Buhari Has Failed This Country – Alhaji Usman Maikatako

Alhaji Usman Maikatako, a political analyst, has complained that the level of terrorism has risen beyond the control of the Zamfara State administration, stating that both the federal and state government should clarify why banditry continues in the state.

Alhaji Maikatako, while speaking with Daily Post in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, quoted former military Head of State General Sani Abacha as stating that “whenever a crisis in a community lasts longer than 24 hours, the government is involved.”

General Ibrahim Babangida was also echoed by the analyst as saying that “no man is more powerful than the government unless the government refuses to act.”

“Then who is fooling who, is it the fools that are fooling the fools? But the truth must be told that the government is indirectly fuelling the banditry activities in the state,” Maikatako said.

“Quote me anywhere, if the government wants to end all these banditry activities in the country, it does not take days to end any crisis but the government is not willing,” he added.

Alhaji Maikatako urged the government to produce evidence and declare that the bandits terrorizing the country are more powerful than the government, claiming that the country’s woes are the fault of the elites.

“The Federal Government continues sending military troops to the state claiming that it was solving the problems but to any mind, the problems of banditry rest in the hands of the government,” he said.

Alhaji Maikatako started that the administration has no justification as to why the banditry activities in the country could not be stopped, saying that the country has no government at all.

The analyst went on to say that the founding fathers of Nigeria will be startled to learn what is happening in the country for which they toiled.

“In Nigeria today everybody knows very well that the rich are getting richer while the poor are seriously getting poorer daily. If we have a responsible government then why should Nigerians be battling to even provide a square meal in a day,” he claimed.

He added that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians miserably, pointing out that the majority of the country’s bandits are involved in heinous activities as a result of the country’s deplorable poverty.

He advised President Buhari to tread carefully when dealing with delicate matters on the ground, adding it would be a great pity if Nigeria fell apart during his presidency.

“Buhari is not handling issues as a military man but he is a weak leader without focus and direction,” Maikatako lamented.

On the other hand, He blamed Nigerians for the situation, claiming that after four years in office, Nigerians should have known better than to vote for him the second time.

“I did not vote for Buhari and will never vote for him until the end of my life because he is not a serious person,” he stated when asked about his choice in the 2019 election.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
