Buhari Has Led Us 20 Years Backward In Just 6 Years, Be Careful Who You Vote 2023 – Gov. Wike

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has urged Nigerians to be more cautious in choosing who to entrust with the task of governing the country, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress in 2023.

He claimed that this was due to the ruling APC Federal Government’s misrule, which had pushed Nigeria 20 years backward in just six and a half years.

On Wednesday, Wike made the statement at the inauguration of the Rivers State Government Safe Home in the Borikiri axis of Port Harcourt, which was performed by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

According to a statement by the governor’s media adviser, Kelvin Ebiri, only states governed by the Peoples’ Democratic Party are concerned with delivering democracy’s benefits.

“The other people (APC) are only fighting themselves about direct primaries and indirect primaries. We (PDP) are busy delivering dividends of democracy. You can see, the difference is clear.

“Your Excellency, I’m happy that you’re the one who has come because you’ve been invited by me severally to Akwa Ibom State to commission projects. I’m happy and I want to say to everybody that PDP governors are doing very, very well.

“So, we must be careful of dealing with those who are not serious. A party that is not serious, that has set our country 20 years back. We must be very, very careful,” he said.

He added that most governments make the mistake of forgetting to consider the well-being of society’s most vulnerable citizens in their plans.

The governor explained that their hesitation arises from the fact that they do not believe it is their responsibility to offer services and programs to safeguard the less fortunate.

“We are only interested in constructing roads. We are only interested in constructing schools, hospitals and the rest of it. But one important aspect that the government forgets is the less privileged, the vulnerable.

“We do not think that we owe them that duty to also protect them. It is key that every government should take this as a special project,” Governor Wike stated.

Governor Wike went on to say that most times when violence was discussed, the attention was solely on women as the only victims, despite the fact that boys are frequently raped by women.

Governor Wike emphasized that the Safe Home’s services should be offered to male victims of assault as well as women.

“So, let us not think that it is only for women. It is also for young boys who are also assaulted so that they can also have some psychological debriefing,” the governor said.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
