Buhari Once Shouted ‘Jesus Christ Of Nazareth –Pastor Tunde Bakare

Pastor Tunde Bakare recounted a personal interaction with the late former President Muhammadu Buhari to illustrate that Buhari was not a religious extremist.

Bakare, the leader of Citadel Global Community Church, shared this anecdote to demonstrate Buhari’s lack of religious fanaticism.

During an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today program on Monday, July 14, Bakare stated, “I thought he was a religious fundamentalist until I came close.”

Bakare, who ran alongside Buhari in the 2011 presidential election under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) banner, noted that the episode took place during the campaign period.

“After the flag off of our campaign in Kaduna, we rode in the same car, we got home to his place and he staggered, the next word he spoke, God is my witness, was ‘Jesus Christ of Nazareth’,” Bakare said.

“And I said, ‘General, what is that?’ He said, ‘You do not have the monopoly of Jesus Christ, I’m thanking God’,”

Bakare further revealed that the former president was often surrounded by Christians.

“He just said that, and then I found out that his bodyguards were all Christians. Not only that, his driver of 10 years asked me to pray with him and I said, ‘I don’t pray Islamic prayers,’ and he said, ‘I’m a Christian, sir.’”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
