Buhari, Tinubu Hail Tems On Grammy Win

President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu have hailed Tems for winning the “Best Melodic Rap Performance” category at the Grammy Awards.

Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, claimed the prize on Sunday with Buhari praising her for putting Nigeria in the spotlight.

“President Buhari extols Tems, Temilade Openiyi, for showcasing her talent to the world, with dedication and hard work, which, again, has placed Nigeria in the spotlight for excellence,” presidential aide Femi Adesina, said in a statement Monday.

“The President lauds all Nigerian nominees for this year’s Grammy, including Burna Boy, for pursuing their passion with vigour and continuously reinventing global entertainment, with creativity.

“President Buhari thanks the creative industry, particularly managers, producers, and directors, for encouraging talents, like Tems, who have taken Nigeria’s culture and tourism to the world, further displaying the resourcefulness and potential of a great nation.”

On his part, Tinubu tweeted hours after Tems won and praised her for the feat.

“I join other Nigerians in congratulating Temilade Openiyi aka Tems
@temsbaby on winning the Grammy award in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song ‘Wait for U’ – featuring Future and Drake,” the former Lagos State Governor tweeted.

Congrats on your outstanding achievement. You deserve every bit of it. You have made us proud.
