Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer; Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known by his stage name ‘The Weeknd’, has undoubtedly over the years established himself in the music industry.

The singer who was born on February 16, 1990, has worked with some of the biggest names in music, like Drake and Ed Sheeran, and has had number-one singles including Can’t Feel My Face and Blinding Lights.

There’s no forgetting this superstar. His music explores escapism, romance, and melancholy and is frequently motivated by personal experiences. He is known for his sonic variety and dark lyricism.

He adopted his present stage name as a nod to the day he dropped out of school, took his mattress, and “went one weekend and never returned home.”

The Weeknd began recording his work when he was a senior in high school. He continued to pursue his interest in music after dropping out, and in 2011 he offered a free download of a song titled House of Balloons. This assisted in advancing his career, along with two further mixtapes.

The Weeknd has won 20 Billboard Music Awards, six American Music Awards, four Grammy Awards, and he was nominated for an Oscar for his score to the film Fifty Shades of Grey.

The celebrity also performed as the halftime show’s host in the 2021 Super Bowl, for which he reportedly paid $7 million of his own money.

The celebrity is known for having dated Selena Gomez and having an on-again, off-again relationship with Bella Hadid. The news that The Weeknd might be dating Angelina Jolie in 2021 stunned everyone.

The Weeknd is the son of immigrants from Ethiopia, his father, who left the family when the Weeknd was just a child, has had minimal contact with him.

As of December 2022, The Weeknd’s net worth is around $300 Million.

After a decade of working in the music industry, the musician has gained an enormous following. He has 17m followers on Twitter and 46.3m Instagram followers.
