Celebrity Spotlight For February 12 Is Temilade Openiyi (Tems)

Tems has over the years become a household name as her music streamed all over the world.

Tems, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi was born in Lagos on June 11, I995. She is genuinely of British ancestry. Her dad is from the UK. Her parents divorced when she was just five years old. She was brought up mainly by her mom.

In 2019, her hit song, “Try Me,” began to play on radio stations across the nation. Soon after, millions of people all over the world began to stream and download the song numerous times. In an effort to show that she is more than just a one-hit wonder, she produced the wonderful music video for the immensely popular song “Damages” this year. After that, she quickly released the critically acclaimed and financially lucrative EP “For Broken Ears.”

Tems loves her mother so much, she never jokes when it comes to her mother. Because of their close relationship, the entire fourth track, “Temilade Interlude,” from Tems’ debut EP, “For Broken Ears,” features her mother’s voice.

At the recent 65th Annual Grammy Awards held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5, Tems won an award for the Best Melodic Rap Performance, following her contribution to Future’s music “Wait for you”.

This makes her the first female Nigerian musician to win a Grammy.

Little is known about her personal life because she keeps it very private.

When asked if there’s a man in her life, she said:

“No. Well, there is. There is. Do you know what his name is? Do you know what his name is? Drumroll…His name is Jesus Christ.”

She also added:

“I’m not dating, period. I’m enjoying myself so much. Currently I’m not trying to date at all.”

For both herself and all Africans, she has accomplished a lot. She deserves to shine even brighter. She is such an inspiration to all aspiring young artists. Kudos Tems.
