Celebrity Spotlight For Nov. 20 Is George Clooney

Popular American actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, and philanthropist; George Timothy Clooney is in the spotlight for this week.

Clooney was born on May 6, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky. He has received three Golden Globe Awards for his work as an actor and two Academy Awards—one for acting and the other for producing. Clooney is also noted for his political activism and has served as one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace since January 31, 2008.

He began acting after his cousin, Miguel Ferrer, landed him a small role in a major motion picture. After that, he relocated to Los Angeles in 1982 and spent an entire year applying for roles while sleeping in a friend’s closet. His debut film, which he co-starred in with Charlie Sheen, remained unpublished but garnered him the interest of the producers for subsequent deals.

George Clooney got married to Amal in 2014 and they both share 5-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.

According to Ancestry.com, politics run in the activist actor’s blood for centuries, and the “Ocean’s 11” star is distantly related to President Abraham Lincoln. Oh yes, he is!

Clooney is the half-first cousin five times removed from Lincoln, the 16th president. The genealogy website breaks down the connection, explaining that “half” means that two of their ancestors were half-siblings – Lincoln’s mother Nancy Hanks was the half-sister of Clooney’s 4th great-grandmother Mary Ann Sparrow.

Hanks and Sparrow shared the same mother, Lucy Hanks, but had different fathers. Lucy Hanks was Lincoln’s maternal grandmother as well as the 5th great-grandmother of Clooney.

George Clooney is not on any social media platform. He may be loved by fans worldwide, but that doesn’t mean you’ll find him posting selfies on Instagram or seeing any tweets from him on Twitter.

Here are some of George Clooney’s Movies:

Ticket to paradise, Ocean’s Eleven, Out Of Sight, Three Kings, Up In The Air, Gravity, From Dusk Till Dawn, Fantastic Mr. Fox and more.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
