Chelsea Cancel Obligation To Sign Jadon Sancho Permanently

Chelsea have opted to forego the obligation to secure Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis and will need to pay Manchester United £5 million, as they failed to finalize an agreement with the winger regarding his personal terms.

The England international will depart Stamford Bridge when his contract expires on June 30.

Sancho, who was on loan from Manchester United during the 2024-25 season, scored five goals in 42 appearances, including his goal in the UEFA Conference League final victory against Real Betis.

However, his contributions have not been enough, as the Blues have declined the opportunity to retain him in west London.

This decision will incur a financial penalty for Chelsea, who are required to pay a £5million fee to Manchester United as stipulated in the terms of Sancho’s loan agreement.

The Blues had the option to sign him permanently for £25m, and discussions took place to adjust his salary demands to align with the wage structure at Stamford Bridge.
Nevertheless, no deal could be finalized, and he will return to Manchester United.

As a result, he will not be traveling to the United States next week when Chelsea begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, despite being eligible to participate.

The 25-year-old will now consider his future options, remaining open to either continuing in the Premier League or pursuing another move overseas.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
