Chelsea FC Announce Mauricio Pochettino As New Manager On 2yrs Deal

Chelsea says the club is hiring Mauricio Pochettino as manager on a two-year deal. He will take up the role on July 1 after agreeing to a 2-year contract, with the club having the option of keeping him on for a further year.

Mauricio Pochettino was appointed manager of Chelsea on Monday. The Argentine coach will be tasked with making the most of a costly assembled team that has underperformed at the start of a new era for the English club.

Pochettino signed a two-year contract with the club with an option for an additional year, according to Chelsea, and will start in his new position on July 1.

It is Pochettino’s first coaching position since he left Paris Saint-Germain in July of last year, and it also represents his return to the Premier League, where he enjoyed a successful five-and-a-half-year career with Tottenham that included a trip to the Champions League final.

Pochettino was generally anticipated to accept the Chelsea role, which is regarded as one of the most prominent jobs in European soccer.
