Chelsea Sign Strasbourg Defender Amadou Sarr For £12m

Chelsea have finalized the transfer of teenage defender Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg.

The 19-year-old French talent has inked a contract that runs until 2033.

Sarr, a France U20 international, was instrumental in Strasbourg earning a spot in European competitions for the upcoming season, featuring in 28 matches across all tournaments.

“His talent has been recognised by his country as he has been capped at various youth levels, with his latest appearances coming for France’s under-20 side,” Chelsea said in a statement.

“Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou!”
He appeared in 29 matches for Strasbourg across all competitions this season, helping them secure a place in the UEFA Conference League for the next season.

Sarr has also represented France at the U17, U18, and U19 levels.

The transfer aligns with striker Liam Delap also joining Stamford Bridge this summer, while winger Jadon Sancho has confirmed his return to Manchester United, as his loan spell has concluded.

Sarr’s transfer allows him to participate in the forthcoming Club World Cup in the United States, with Chelsea’s campaign kicking off against LAFC on June 16.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
