Church Work Or Wealth Trap? Pastor David Ibiyeomie Speaks Out

Salvation Ministries’ founder and current pastor, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has sparked debate after voicing concerns about compensating church musicians for their ministry services.

The cleric questioned the practice of paying musicians, particularly drummers, for their participation in church services during a recent sermon.

Referencing Exodus 23:25, which says, “You shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water,” Ibiyeomie stressed that divine blessings come from selfless dedication to God.

“The moment they pay you, the blessing stops,” he said, adding that true prosperity comes from God’s blessing rather than human wages.

He further stated: “And the blessing of the Lord maketh rich,’ so you just remain at the level they are paying you. You will never rise. As you see, drummers who receive money never get rich”

In serving God, our focus should never be on receiving compensation or material rewards from man. True service to God is rooted in devotion, obedience, and love for Him, not in what we can gain in return. We should understand that our reward comes from God alone, who sees and rewards our faithfulness. Expecting compensation from man can lead to disappointment and compromise our integrity.

Instead, we must place our trust entirely in God’s provision, knowing that He is the one who rewards those who diligently seek Him. Ultimately, serving God is about giving our best for His glory, trusting that He will provide everything we need.
