2027 Kogi PDP Rallies Behind Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for Second Term

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has kicked off grassroots mobilisation in Kogi Central ahead of the 2027 elections, with supporters staging a solidarity road walk in Okehi LGA to drum up support for the return of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Senate.

The mobilisation, which began on Thursday, was led by the Director-General of the PDP campaign for Kogi Central, Salami Etudaiye. It drew youths, women, and party loyalists who marched through Okehi in support of Akpoti-Uduaghan and other PDP candidates.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the senator’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, *Mike Idoko*.

Speaking during the walk, Etudaiye described the turnout as proof of the PDP’s growing grassroots strength across the senatorial district.

*“The people of Kogi Central have a choice to make, and that choice should be based on performance, capacity, courage and the ability to represent the collective interest of the people. Senator Natasha has demonstrated these qualities in her first tenure,”* he said.

Kogi Central comprises *Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo* LGAs.

Etudaiye argued that returning Akpoti-Uduaghan for a second term would allow her to *deepen legislative representation, expand constituency interventions*, and pursue programmes to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.

*“A second tenure is not simply about returning an individual to the office. It is about giving the people an opportunity to consolidate representation, experience and programmes that can have lasting impact,”* he added.

PDP stalwart *Bashir Haroon* also spoke at the rally, saying the turnout reflected the confidence of the people in the senator.

*“Okehi is standing firm with the PDP and with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. We have seen her commitment, we have seen her courage, and we have seen the way she has continued to identify with the people. This support is not about politics alone; it is about standing with a representative who has demonstrated that she understands the aspirations of her constituents,”* Haroon said.

He urged communities across Kogi Central to remain united and ensure their support translates into votes in 2027.

*Second-Term Agenda Outlined*
According to the PDP campaign leadership, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s proposed second-term agenda will focus on consolidating existing interventions while expanding opportunities in:
– *Infrastructure*
– *Education*
– *Youth development*
– *Women empowerment*
– *Healthcare*
– *Skills acquisition*
– *Economic development*

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has remained a prominent political figure in Kogi Central since assuming office. Her supporters cite her *legislative engagements, constituency outreach, and advocacy* as reasons for seeking continuity.

The campaign DG also appealed to residents of the five LGAs to sustain peaceful political engagement as activities ahead of 2027 gather momentum.
