Cyberbullying: Celebrities Should Have The Freedom To Take Appropriate Action – Saidi Balogun

Saidi Balogun, an actor, has expressed his support for Toyin Abraham and emphasized that even celebrities have the right to safeguard their mental health.

He emphasized how hypocritical it is to condemn celebrities for doing things like calling the police into defamation cases, something that ordinary people do all the time.

Celebrities, according to Balogun, ought to be able to express themselves and protect their mental privacy just like everyone else.

He wrote on Instagram, “You use police to arrest your neighbours for the most minor reasons; e reach celebrity turn, you say it’s bullying. Stop the emotional blackmail. Celebrities are humans, just like you. You are free to say what you like, right? Let celebrities be free to take whatever actions they want to protect their mental space. Freedom should not be selective. God bless.”

His post comes amid the controversy surrounding Toyin Abraham’s petition to the police against a social media user who defamed her, which was misreported as an arrest.

It’s about self expression so I feel celebrities have the right to share their opinions whether good or bad. Above all they should be their self no matter what people say or do.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
