Dead Man Wheeled Into Bank By Niece Was Likely Poisoned

Reports state that the dead Brazilian man who his niece wheeled into a bank in an odd scheme to secure her a bank loan was underweight when he passed away and might have been poisoned.

Paulo Roberto Braga, 68, appeared to be malnourished, and the autopsy report that Metrópoles was able to obtain stated that his causes of death were originally classified as broncho-aspiration and heart failure.

According to the report, an emergency care physician who saw him felt that he had been poisoned. As a result, a blood sample from his stomach was sent for toxicological testing on the body.

After several hours, Braga’s niece Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, 42, brought his dead body into a bank and used his hand to sign for a $3,250 loan.

It was confirmed that Braga had passed away sometime on Tuesday, April 16. According to Métropoles, the old man was “in need of special care” at the time of his death and had a history of health problems.

According to the publication, he had been brought to an emergency room at least once in the previous week, where tachycardia and pneumonia were discovered. In addition, he had difficulty swallowing and was oxygen-dependent.

His niece is accused of defiling a corpse and theft by deception, although her lawyer suggested that her behaviour might have been motivated by mental health concerns.

Her arrest became widely publicised when footage of her pretending he was still alive and could sign paperwork approving her loan surfaced.

“Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign [the loan contract]. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you,” Nunes could be heard telling the body in the shocking footage.

“Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it anymore,” she complained.

The man’s pallid complexion turned off bank employees, who contacted the police. It was discovered later that Braga had been deceased for a number of hours.

Then, disturbing video surfaced, showing Nunes driving a cab to the bank and having the driver assist her in getting Braga’s body out of the vehicle and onto the wheelchair.

Nunes was also seen in a video shot the day before the incident, taking Braga, who was obviously still alive at the time, to the emergency department.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
