Delta Police Impound 25 Vehicles Amid Enforcement Of Tinted Glass Permit

The Delta State Police Command has confiscated twenty-five vehicles during the implementation of the tinted glass permit regulation.

It should be noted that on Friday, October 3, a Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, directed the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police to halt the enforcement of the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicle owners.

The court instructed the police and the IGP to uphold the existing situation and “respect judicial processes pending further proceedings in the matter.”

In April, the Nigeria Police Force declared that it had restarted the issuance of tinted glass permits across the country through the Police Specialised Services Automation Project, following a suspension of the program in 2022.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, originally established August 12 as the deadline for drivers to acquire the permits, but subsequently extended it to October 2.

The Police justified the policy as legal, referencing the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act of 1991 and concerns related to national security.

In a post on Friday, October 3, via its X account, @DeltaPoliceNG stated, “Enforcement of tint permits. Twenty-five vehicles were impounded for driving a tinted vehicle without a tinted permit in Asaba.

“Visit @POSSAP_NGG website today and get it done or your police state headquarters.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
