Denrele Edun, a Nigerian actor and media personality, has given an explanation for why he symbolically “married” himself on his 45th birthday.
On June 13, the performer, whose real name is Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun, posted a video on social media to announce the unusual union. The video immediately generated a lot of responses.
Denrele described the self-marriage as a celebration of his journey through years of highs and lows in an Instagram story he posted on Tuesday.
When he looked back on his life at the age of 45, he said he decided to pay tribute to the one person who had supported him at every turn.
“Till death didn’t do us part. So I married myself. After 45 years of chaos, glitter, survival, reinvention, controversy, resilience, heartbreak and triumph, I remain the greatest love story I’ve ever known.”
“I am the bride and the groom. And I am marrying every version of myself that fought to get here. Today, I marry the only person who never left my side: ME!”
“The Bride. The Groom. The Happily Ever After.”
This whole story is pretty funny. Marrying himself—is it just one of Denrele Edun’s jokes, or is he actually serious? Life has a funny way of surprising us, and sometimes, the most unexpected things happen to remind us to enjoy the humor along the way.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
One ❤️❤️❤️
