The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Douye Diri, the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State, has been declared the victor of the November 11, 2023, governorship election.
In the results declared in Yenagoa on Monday, November 13, by State Returning Officer Prof. Kuta Farouq, Diri received 175,196 votes overall, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Timipre Sylva, who received 110, 108 votes.

Douye Diri emerged victorious in six of the state’s eight local government areas, while Sylva won the local government areas of Brass and Nembe.
In Ogbia, Diri received 18,435 votes, in Kolokuma/Opokuma, 18,465 votes, in Yenagoa, 37,777 votes, in Ekeremor, 23,172 votes, 24,685 votes in Southern Ijaw, 4,556 votes in Nembe, and 12,602 votes in Brass.
