Eden Hazard Is The Laziest Player I’ve Seen – Mikel Obi

John Mikel Obi, a former Super Eagles captain, described Eden Hazard as the most lazy player he has ever played with.

They were teammates for five seasons in Chelsea, starting in 2012 and continuing through Mikel’s departure from Stanford Bridge in 2016.

They had a trophy-filled career while they were at the club, winning the Premier League, the UEFA Europa League, and the FA Cup together.

Hazard joined Real Madrid in 2018, but his time there was unsuccessful due to injuries and inconsistent play.

Last month, he finally announced his retirement from football, saying it was time to enjoy a few more beers.

On the Obi One Podcast, Mikel discussed what it was like to train with the Belgian.

“He is the laziest footballer I’ve ever seen in my life, but then, come the weekend, and he wins the man-of-the-match award, and then he comes in and shows everyone. He’s like, come on guys, you see,” the former Super Eagles midfielder said.

“If you look at him now, he’s lost a little weight, but when he was at Chelsea, the night before the game, after dinner, he’ll sit for like twenty minutes, eating his rice pudding. He likes his food,” Obi added.

Obi emphasized that despite Hazard’s mistakes in practice, his game performance was consistently excellent.

“He then goes to bed, wakes up in the morning, shows up to the game by 3 p.m., and produces. In training, he isolates himself and doesn’t really participate. He just smacks about, but then comes up with the goods on the weekends.”
