EId-el-Fitr: Gov Ortom Calls For Religious Tolerance Among Nigerians

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has called on all Nigerians to use this year’s EId-el-Fitr to tolerate each other despite religious differences.

The governor, who made the call in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman in person of Nathaniel Ikyur, felicitated with the Muslim ummah in Nigeria on the celebration of 2022 EId-el-Fitr.

The Governor in the goodwill message lauded the Muslim ummah for their sacrifices and prayers for the nation during the Ramadan fast.

Ortom, therefore, admonished them to sustain the spirit and lessons gained from the Ramadan period to further promote peace, unity and progress across the country.

The governor urged both the Muslim and Christian faithful to pray for the nation, particularly during the forthcoming general elections.

Governor Ortom lamented that the security of lives and properties in the country is still a serious challenge. He called on all citizens of the country to join the battle against all forms of crimes especially terrorism and banditry which are currently threatening the unity of Nigeria.

Ortom stated that he craves an egalitarian society where every citizen is free to ply his or her legitimate trade in any part of the country without fear of intimidation or molestation.
