Emefiele Regains Freedom Again

Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been freed from Kuje Correctional Centre.

Emefiele was let free upon fulfilling his bail requirements on Friday, December 22. Adamu Duza, a spokesman for the Kuje Correctional Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, confirmed this.

“I can confirm to you that he (Emefiele) has met his bail conditions, hence he has no reason to remain in our facility. He met his bail condition and was released past 2 pm yesterday (Friday).”

Remember how a Federal Capital Territory High Court had given Emefiele, who is being prosecuted for purported procurement fraud, a N300 million bail?

He was given bail along with two sureties in the same amount. The property titles and certificates of occupancy of the sureties must be for properties located in Abuja’s Maitama District.

The former CBN governor was also mandated to stay inside the Abuja Municipal Area Council and to deposit all of his travel documents with the court registrar.
