Professor Is-haq Oloyede on Friday officially handed over to Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, bringing an end to 10 years of leadership at the examination body.
The handover followed President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Aina to succeed Oloyede. The appointment was announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and institutional reforms.
His academic profile includes:
– Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent
– Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom
– Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School
The Presidency noted that Aina has more than 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms and systems design.
He has also served as a consultant to examination bodies, including NECO and NABTEB, particularly on ICT systems and examination integrity.
Described as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, Aina will also become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would consolidate on the reforms and achievements recorded under Oloyede’s administration and further strengthen the operations of the examination body.
Oloyede’s tenure, which began in 2016, was marked by major reforms including the introduction of CBT nationwide, reduction of registration fraud, and improved transparency in admissions processes.
With Aina’s background in technology and digital systems, stakeholders expect a renewed push toward automation, data integrity, and seamless examination delivery across the country.
