Envy

Envy is an emotion that occurs when a person lacks another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it. Aristotle defined envy as pain at the sight of another’s good fortune, stirred by “those who have what we ought to have.”

It is the worst disease that can harm our relationships with others. Everyone has felt envy at some certain point in life, that is why it is crucial for us to learn how to control it.

The main problem with it is that it makes us put all our focus on someone else’s achievement instead of our own. Instead of being grateful for what we have, or have become, but we are angry about not having what others have. Needless to say, such an attitude can only make us become depressed.

The worst thing about envy is that no matter how smart we are, there is always someone that is greater than us which simply means that we must be contented with what we have. It destroys and takes away our joy, leaving us sorrowful. Where there is envy, there is no more room for love and peace of mind.

Envy divides one’s attention and it also wastes one’s time and energy.

I will end this article by saying that we should not overrate what we have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

One ❤️. Beautiful week ahead
