Nigerians Should Ignore Those Calling For Country’s Division, Seek Unity Instead – Alaafin Of Oyo

Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Alaafin of Oyo, has called on Nigerians to reject those who advocate for the country’s disintegration and strive for the promotion of its unity.

Adeyemi III commented on Sunday at the opening of 35 classrooms at the Royal Gold Model Group of Schools and foundation laying of a Mosque in Ibadan.

According to the Alaafin of Oyo, a number of events in Nigeria’s history had led to ethnicity and tribalism among the country’s citizens.

He asked Nigerians to find a method of reconciling one another and overlook what happened in the past in order to bring the country forward.

“I don’t think that separating the state is the way out, but we can restructure the country in such a way that we will have peace and tranquillity and live in harmony.

“There is a need to unite in order to save Nigeria from disintegration,” the Alaafin added.

Oba Adeyemi III applauded the Proprietor of the School, Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold, for encouraging unity among Nigerians.

In his statement, Akewugbagold appealed to Muslims not to discriminate against individuals practicing other religions.

Akewugbagold stated, “There should be no rancor or taking up arms against one another; every individual should be allowed to worship in his or her ways.

“Both Isa (Jesus Christ) and Muhammad are prophets of Allah.”

The school proprietor stated that he intends to construct another Mosque in Lagos State, which will be named after Prophet Muhammad.

In his speech, Almufty of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaimon Onikijipa, urged Muslims to abide by the principles of the Holy Quran and cease yearning for a miracle where it does not exist.

Among the dignitaries who attend the meeting were: the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji represented by Mogaji Akere, Moshood Gbolagade; Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Shelkh AbdulGaniyu Agbotomokekere and Yeyelua Agbesinga Adinni, Alhaja Medinat Adedibu, among others.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
