Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, Chairman of the Adamawa Association of Liquefied Petroleum (LPG) Plant Owners, has warned customers not to use expired gas cylinders, calling them “time bombs.”

He claimed that avoiding their use would save lives and property.

Mohammed delivered this recommendation in a Yola interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.

He explained that each gas cylinder has an expiration date, necessitating its replacement after 15 years in order to avert an explosion.

He said, “This gas cylinders that you are using has an expiring date after 15 years, so it is important for you not to buy cylinders that have no date.

“You should always be cautious by complying with safety guidelines, as compliance is key.”

He advised that people should keep the instructions displayed in their kitchens as a reminder in case of any difficulty.

In the event of leaks or other operational issues, Mohammed recommended customers to phone or return to gas plants.

He urged state governments to modernize their firefighting infrastructure by providing more advanced equipment.

He added that the government should also educate the public on safety precautions.

He stated that the state had roughly 14 gas facilities, including four in Mubi and ten more in the Jimeta-Yola axis.
